I think it was a great success and have received good feedback from people who attended.

A big well done to Darryl for being the first on the water at 5.30am and clocking up the most hors on the water on the day… I recon it must have been around 5hrs!!! Well done also to Nick who must have come in second… (and thanks for letting me have a blast on your kit, its much nicer than mine!)

I was trying to create a time line to show who, and when people were on the water but I lost track about mid morning and then lost the plot by about lunch time! Well done for taking part if you did and I’m sure we will do it again next year and improve  on what we did this time.

Come Try Windsurfing and SUP

For the Windsurfing I think we got through about 20 people in the two hour slot, and I’m sure we will see some of them again on courses or Team 15.

The SUP was inundated with Nige reckoning he had up to 50 people trying in what became an over three hour slot… well done!

What can we say… Three races Jo’s team 2, my team 1… so well done Jo’s team, it was close but you were victorious!

DUE TO THE POOR FORECAST FOR SATURDAY THE WINDSURF DAY WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY 12TH MAY.

THE FORMAT WILL BE THE SAME AS ADVERTISED.

The Guernsey Sailing Trust is dedicated to getting children on the water whether it’s sailing or windsurfing.  Team 15 is a nationwide network of windsurfing clubs where young people aged 15 and under can get together every week to learn new windsurfing skills and have a laugh with their mates on the water. Team15 clubs welcome all levels of windsurfer.

The club will be running every Thursday during term time from 16:30 – 18:30 starting 3rd May until July 19^th. During the summer holidays T15 will run on Friday mornings (Fri 27^th July – 31^st Aug) from 0900 – 1200 so we will take full advantage of the beautiful summer we are going to have!

At just £5 per session its a fantastic way to get on the water and have fun.

We are currently looking for sponsorship for:-

• A new safety boat to replace our current (over 20 years old) Avon Sea-rider. We are looking for £20,000.00 for a complete Ribcraft 5.85 safety boat with trailer.

•  Replacement Windsurf Training Sails. Our current sails are getting a little tired from all the use they have had. We are looking for £2500.oo for this.

• A Hawk spinnaker kit. Since owning our two Hawks only one has ever been fitted with a spinnaker. We would like to fit both with spinnaker to be able to teach additional skills and have a few more ropes to pull for our students. The Spinnaker pack would be £1500.00.

The Saturday Sessions are back again this year by popular demand. The sessions are aimed at 16yrs plus and will take you from beginner to a competent windsurfer in just a few sessions.

Each Session runs from 09.30 to 12.30 costs £45 which includes hire of  all the equipment including a wetsuit and buoyancy aid. There are a maximum of 6 spaces per session.

This year the RYA have an initiative which is aimed at raising the profile of sailing @ the 2012 London Olympics.

On 21st July there will be a Push the Boat out day which is to get as many boats out on the water across the nation in order to support our Team GBR Sailing Team.

The Trust will be participating in this day and it will be open to anyone who fancies dressing up one of our boats or their own with bunting, burgees, flags and even themselves in order to show their support for Team GBR.
