Offshore sailing and Charter Download Gem's 2008 voyage schedule
In 2004, through an amazingly generous donation the Trust acquired a 50ft cutter rigged sloop. 'Gemervescence' has enabled the trust to further its sail training and offer students the opportunity to sail offshore. Gemervescence is designed as an ocean going yacht and built to a very high standard, she is capable of accommodating a Skipper and Mate plus 6 trainees.
With this new vessel we have expanded our sailing training activities by taking groups of trainees to sea for periods of up to 5 days sailing around the Channel Islands, the French coasts and the U.K. The voyages are open to all young people from the age of 14 years including groups from schools, youth organisations and groups with special needs. This superb vessel also provides a facility for youngsters wanting to complete the residential part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award. In 2008 Gem will taking part in the Tall Ships Race .If you are between the ages of 15 -25 and would like to sail on one of the legs please contact us for further detail s
The yacht is registered as an RYA training centre, and so on certain voyages students will be able to complete Competent Crew and Watch Leader certificates.
