Summer Courses   Download booking form here

During the school summer holidays the Trust offers a variety of courses for students aged 7 upwards and the occasional adult course. The courses offered include beginner and improver courses in a wide range of boats. In 2004 we also introduced windsurfing to our programme. These follow the RYA syllabus and lead to students gaining recognised qualifications and certificates.

Junior Oppie Courses

These very popular courses are designed for young sailors between the ages of 7 and 11.They are run over 4 half days, beginners in the morning and improvers in the afternoon. The beginner's courses are intended for complete novices whilst the improver's courses are for those who have done some sailing, and wish to gain more experience. Safety is of paramount importance and experienced and qualified instructors staff the courses with adequate safety boats always in attendance

Buoyancy aids are supplied, and students are only required to bring a change of clothes and a towel .The course follows the RYA young sailors scheme, and should result in the students gaining a stage 1,2 or 3 certificate

These courses are designed for young sailors from 11 years. As a rough guide young sailors should be 45 kilos or mor . We do have several Taz dinghies that can be sailed by those not quite up to this weight.

This is an ‘all day’ course and students are required to bring a packed lunch as well as a change of clothes, including soft-soled shoes or wet boots. Students should bring their own wet suits if they have one although we do have some that can be borrowed.
