About the Trust

The Trust was originally established in 1988 to allow island children from all walks of life to experience the pleasure of sailing and dispel the belief that the sport was elitist.

Together with the help of the Education Council and generous sponsorship from the business and private sectors of the community , the Sailing Trust has fulfilled that remit by introducing thousands of school children, including those with disabilities, to the challenges and thrill of sailing.

In 1998 at the Annual Nautical awards ceremony the Sailing Trust was presented with the prestigious award for community service presented by the British Marine Industries and the RYA.
