School’s out, sails up! This summer, the Guernsey Sailing Trust is offering a full season of fun, adventure, and skill-building out on the water — and there’s something for every young sailor, from first-timers to confident tackers.
Whether you’re looking to enrol your child in a structured course or just fancy a flexible weekend activity, we’ve got you covered.
Monday to Thursday: Weekly Summer Sailing Courses
Every week from 21 July to 29 August, we run a range of exciting, RYA-recognised sailing courses from Monday to Thursday. These courses are designed to help children and young people of all skill levels gain confidence, learn new techniques, and — most importantly — have a brilliant time on the water.
Here’s what’s on:
Oppies on the Pond
Perfect for younger beginners, these sessions take place in the calm and safe waters of the Model Yacht Pond. It’s a fantastic introduction to sailing with lots of fun and splashing included!
Oppies on the Sea
A step up from the pond, these sea-based sessions give slightly older or more confident children a chance to experience real sailing conditions — all under expert supervision.
Beginner & Improver Dinghies
From learning the ropes to perfecting your tacks and gybes, these courses help children develop sailing independence and technique. Ideal for ages 8 and up.
Day Sailing, Spinnakers & Seamanship
For those ready to take on more advanced skills, these courses offer challenge, excitement, and a sense of real accomplishment. Participants will explore navigation, handling different sails, and practical seamanship.
Multifun Week
A whole week of all things water! Kayaking, paddleboarding, team games, and sailing adventures come together in this fun-focused week full of variety and high-energy fun.
All courses run Monday to Thursday (Except for 25th of August, it is Tuesday – Friday, due Bank Holiday)
Times vary by session; Mornings 9am – 12pm, Afternoons 13pm – 16pm, All Day 9am – 16pm

Saturday Drop-In Sessions
Looking for something flexible? Our Saturday Drop-In Sessions are perfect for families who want to keep weekends fun and active — without committing to a full course.
Where? The Model Yacht Pond, Castle Emplacement
When? Every Saturday from 9am–12pm, Three one hour sessions
Who Can Join? Ages 4+ — no experience needed!
These sessions are informal, supervised, and packed with fun. Just turn up, pay, and sail! It’s a brilliant way for kids to try sailing for the first time or keep their skills fresh between courses.
