Join us this summer for relaxed and friendly dinghy racing with the Guernsey Yacht Club and Guernsey Sailing Trust. Our Rock Up and Race sessions run every Tuesday evening throughout July and August, where you can take part in the GYC Evening Dinghy Racing. Suitable for beginners it is the perfect chance to get out on the water, build confidence, and enjoy some competitive sailing in a supportive environment. Sailors must be 18+, older children may be considered if parents/guardians are present.
Each session includes guidance from an experienced instructor, who will be in the boat with you, making it ideal for those looking to develop their racing skills or try it for the first time. With just 4 places available each week, spaces are limited. The session starts at 17:30 where we introduce you to the boats, RS Quest, explain the course and then rig the boats. You will like likely get wet, wetsuits or warm clothing with a change of clothes is required. Buoyancy aid and spray top and salopettes (waterproof jackets and trousers) are available to borrow. The race will start at 18:30 and you will join in with the rest of the GYC dinghies racing and can take about an hour. Post race there will be an option to grab and drink and speak to the rest of the competitors in the GYC bar.
These sessions are sponsored by the Guernsey Yacht Club and everyone get two sessions free. If you attend more than two sessions they will cost £30 each.
Racing will be weather dependent and may be cancelled. The decision to not race the quest may be made independent of the other competitors.
