Advanced Powerboat – Day and Night.

Courses are held over two days, including a night exercise.  The night exercise will be run on either Saturday or Sunday night, depending on the weather.  The instructor will confirm the times with you at the start of the course on Saturday.  Should we be unable to complete the night passage, we will re-arrange this with you.

The aim of the course is to teach boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day and night in coastal waters, with which the candidate may be familiar.

Candidates should be competent to the standard of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate with a thorough knowledge of navigation and chart work to the Level of Coastal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate. It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate. The minimum age for this course is 17 years old.

If you are unsure whether you meet the pre course criteria please get in touch. This is not an attendance only course. No refunds will be given to candidates who do not pass the course due to gaps in their pre course knowledge. We are always happy to help and can recommend video links to help revise the pre course material. Please email: info@sailingtrust.org.gg
