Despite ominous weather overnight, the skies cleared just in time for the Guernsey Sailing Trust’s Discover Sailing Open Day. With gentle breezes and perfect sailing conditions, we welcomed enthusiastic newcomers and seasoned sailors alike for a memorable morning on the water.

Families gathered by the Model Yacht Pond to watch young sailors take their first steps into Oppies, learning the basics of balance and control. For those seeking a more the high seas, the Hawk 20 keelboat and Quest dinghies provided the perfect setting for a relaxing sail, while thrill-seekers couldn’t get enough of the high-speed RIB rides—every splash and turn bringing smiles and laughter.

We were honoured to be joined by His Excellency the Lt Governor, as he had chance to see us in action!

Our instructors, as always, shared their expertise with enthusiasm, guiding participants through the joys of sailing and encouraging new skills and confidence on the water. It was a reminder of why we love what we do: sailing isn’t just a sport, it’s an adventure that everyone can get involved in.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us—whether you were in the boats, supporting from the shore, or helping to make the day run smoothly. The Discover Sailing Open Day proved, once again, that nothing beats time on the water, great company, and a little wind in your sails.

Until next time—see you on the waves! 🌊⛵
